Frequently Asked Questions
Is 10oz cotton spandex see-through?
No. At 10oz per square yard, this is a medium-heavy jersey with excellent opacity. It works well for fitted garments without a lining, even in lighter colors.
Does cotton spandex shrink?
The cotton component can shrink 2-3% on the first wash. Pre-wash before cutting. Always wash cold and dry low — high heat permanently damages the spandex fibers and reduces stretch recovery.
Can I use this for activewear?
Yes, for moderate-activity garments like yoga pants, casual leggings, and workout tops. For high-intensity or moisture-wicking needs, consider our nylon spandex fabric which dries faster.
What needle and stitch should I use?
Use a ballpoint or stretch needle (size 75/11 or 80/12) to avoid skipped stitches. Sew with a zigzag stitch, stretch stitch, or serger to maintain elasticity in the seams.
